What is domain authority?
A score that predicts how strong and trusted a website is in search. Moz popularised the term, and each SEO tool calculates its own version.
Is this the same as Moz DA?
No. Moz DA and Ahrefs DR use private backlink indexes. Our SEO Return Authority Score uses public data (traffic rank, Wikipedia citations, age and security) and shows every part of the calculation, so numbers will differ.
What is a good authority score?
It is relative. Compare yourself with the sites ranking for your keywords. As a rough guide, under 25 is low, 25-45 is moderate, 45-70 is strong and above 70 is a major brand.
How do I increase domain authority?
Earn editorial links and mentions from relevant sites, publish content others want to cite (original data, tools, guides), grow real traffic and keep your brand details consistent across the web.
Does Google use domain authority?
Google does not use third-party scores like DA. It does use similar underlying signals, such as links, popularity and trust, which is why these scores are useful for comparison.
