How is keyword difficulty calculated here?
We combine public signals: autocomplete prominence across three search engines, Wikipedia coverage and readership, search intent, keyword length and whether it is a YMYL topic. Every factor and its effect is shown, so the score is transparent.
Why is it different from Ahrefs or Semrush?
Paid tools add backlink data for the current top 10 results from their private indexes. This free estimate does not, so use it as a guide and compare keywords against each other rather than treating it as an exact figure.
What is a good keyword difficulty for a new website?
Start with keywords under 30. Between 30 and 50 is realistic once you have some authority and a strong page. Above 70 usually needs a well-known site and many quality backlinks.
Does low difficulty mean low traffic?
Often, but not always. Long tail keywords have less volume each, yet they convert well and you can rank for many of them with one strong page.
What does YMYL mean?
“Your Money or Your Life”: topics that can affect health, finances or safety. Google holds them to a higher standard of expertise and trust, which makes them harder to rank for.
